- Solana‘s philosophy:

Bringing Russian Avant Garde to Western Audiences

-

Founded in 2003, Solana Fine Art is the leading UK London-based art collection and service company focusing entirely on presenting the unique branches of Russian Avant Garde to Western audiences. - -

The significance of Russian Avant Garde is diverse. In the last century Russia gave birth to great masters such as Kandinsky, Malevich, Chagall, Filonov, Pimenov and many others, who were unlucky in terms of the little recognition that they received in their lifetimes considering their significance in the development of world art.

The generation of Russian Avant Garde artists that spanned the thirties to the seventies were even more unlucky. Their works taken in their own right could be considered of world class significance and in no way inferior and indeed sometimes superior to those of their more renowned predecessors.

Since for a long time in the following Soviet Russian times it was simply not allowable to talk about Avant Garde because it was considered a phenomenon that contradicted the accepted tenets of Socialist Realism. Exhibitions were banned and many works were hidden in “storage” and were inaccessible to the public while some art was even destroyed.

To this day, this unique Russian Avant Garde art created by Russian artists - both the living and the dead - still remain unknown for the large part to the art-loving public in the West. The goal of Solana Fine Art is to reveal to the Western public the indomitable spirit and mastery of these Russian artists who fought to create their work in conditions of the most cruel censorship and persecution. Continuing their admirable spirit, Solana Fine Art is also proud to show the new generation of contemporary Russian Avant Garde artists in whose works the life of the world’s Avant Garde continues to thrive.
