Yuri Negadaev

- backup
Yuri Negadaev was born in Semipalatinsk, an area renowned as the Soviet Union's nuclear arms testing area. As a result one of his first paintings named 'Atomic Winter' shows the reality of nuclear testing fall-out and its result on the local people.

His first painting style was firmly grounded in realism especially of people and environment which had been damaged by human action and human population. As with many artists, Negadaev's style developed and out of his frustration with the poverty and misery created by humans he started to create his own escape world which can be seen in his most recent signature style paintings which feature fairytale and fantasy motives. In these later very colourful paintings, humans, nature and animals live together in harmony. Negadaev uses lots of green as a sign of his rebirth and gold to reflect the heaven and supernatural powers that guide us.

Negadaev has been featured in the film documentary 'Edam of Yuri Negadaev'. His unique work has been exhibited in Chicago, Tokyo, San Francisco and many other international cities.
