Vladimir Shubaev

- backup
Vladimir Shubaev’s artwork is signed with his “nom de plume” as Avarra, written in Latin letters instead of his native Cyrillic. Vladimir Shubaev was born in 1963 in Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the age of 21 he came to Russia to study first at the Suzdal Art Academy (in the townof Suzdal) and then at the Stroganov Commercial Arts Institute in Moscow. He was expelled for his independent interpretation of academic themes and his rendering of course work with an inclination towards expressionism and unrealism. His philosophy is best summed up as: the creation of emotional images using an expressive palette and thick textured strokes. He escapes into a world of colours and expressions in order to overcome life’s problems, loneliness and depression. He empathises with people deprived of comfort and spiritual balance in the real world. He works in ceramics and writes poetry and philosophical essays. He has exhibited in Germany. His works can be found in galleries in Moscow, Germany, the USA and many other countries.
